The intersection of AI, education, and healthcare requires shared expertise. Data scientists can provide technical insight while educators and ethicists ensure that design decisions honor human values. Nursing professionals, with their background in holistic care, can play a leading role in shaping AI that supports rather than replaces empathy.

Beyond Fairness Toward Equity and Care

An algorithm can meet numeric equity goals while still failing to understand the lived experience of learners. The same is true in healthcare. Therefore, can AI systems in education ever be completely fair, and if not, how do we prepare students to live ethically within that imperfection?

Yet ethical practice is possible. The focus should shift from expecting perfection to building adaptability.
